Jerry's Journey on the Trans-America Trail
3/30/2008 10:26:00 AM

The TransAmerica Bicycle Trail is a 4,247.5 mile (6836 km) long transcontinental bicycle touring route which crosses ten American states from Astoria, Oregon to Yorktown, Virginia. The TransAmerica Trail was established for Adventure Cycling's celebration of the U.S. bicentennial in 1976. At that time, the organization was called Bikecentennial, a name many still associate with the TransAm Trail. The TransAmerica Trail is still the most used route crossing America. It offers everything expected in a transcontinental crossing. The route encounters all kinds of scenery and terrain, including ocean coastline, lush forests, high desert, mountain passes, snow-capped peaks, sweeping vistas, expansive plains, fertile farmlands, rolling hills, and wide rivers. Largely avoiding urban areas, the route passes through small, out-of-the-way towns.

Title : Thanks!
Comment : Never saw the Biggest Loser show - found you from an internet search on "loose skin". Your success story is an inspiration to us all. I'm well on my way as well, down 30 lbs. (59, 5' 7", 240->210), and am looking forward to being able to ride my 12 speed again without kids heckling me. 1000 crunches a day? You're a maniac :) Got to love ya! Hope your bike tour is going well and keep up the good work.

Title : Thank you!
Comment : Jerry, thank you so much! It was very exciting to meet you. You are so gracious and it was one of the highlights of my trip to New York. You have fired up inspiration in this house for us to get in shape. I hope that my hubby gets the chance to meet you while he's in Peoria. I will pass this information along! Thank you again!

Comment : Susan, It was nice talking to you . I use Septhine Polito, she owns Great Harvest Bread Co. She is great and is very reasonable, she works me at a pace I can handle.I work out at the YMCA and I'm there every day. You can call my Brother his name is in the phone book and he will get ahold of me. Or go out to the Bread Factory on Allen Road....Jerry

Title : I met you in New York
Comment : Hello Jerry! I met you just after you did your spot on the Today Show last Tuesday. My husband works in Peoria and is in need of a personal trainer. He found a strength trainer, but needs one that also does nutrition. I didn't realize when I met you that you live in Peoria! Once I saw that I was hopeful that you could help my sweet hubby find a trainer. His doctor just told him that he needs to lose 80 lbs. You are an incredible inspiration to us and we started working out really hard this weekend. You told me that you do 1000 crunches every day! That is amazing! I came home, did 200 the first day and 300 the second. OUCH! But I'm gonna make it to the 1000! I can already tell a difference. If you are able to reply to this, please do! I am the girl that got her picture taken with you on the corner just after you did another interview(I don't know who with). Keep up the outstanding work! You have 8 fans in this family (we have 6 kids!). We hope you win the 100 grand! You deserve it!
